A New Chapter of American Imperialism Begins

U.S. Press Secretary Ari Fleischer just appeared on television to announce that the "disarmament of Iraq had begun". This invasion of Iraq by the United States of America opens a new chapter on American imperialism. Ignoring the concensus of the United Nations and the people of the world, this preemptive war, led by a handful of the rich and powerful, has all but shredded the notion of national self-determinism. No nation rests in safety. Any leader, organization or individual which opposes the policies of the Bush administration is now at risk, threatened by the largest military power on the planet.

Rather than standing as a example for peaceful resolution, the Bush administration has proven once again that the United States is not a moral leader but rather the top thug. Despite President Bush's inference that somehow god is on his side, there is no glory in war, only anger, anguish and death. Just as the world changed on September 11th, it has now changed again. And not for the better.

If there is a god, may it have mercy on our feebleminded souls.
